Simcoe County, with Barrie, Collingwood and Orillia announce the development of a three-year Music Strategy for the region.

The Music Strategy initiative is a joint Partnership Program undertaking between Regional Tourism Organization 7 (RTO7), the County of Simcoe, the City of Barrie, the City of Orillia and the Town of Collingwood and the Central Ontario Music Council (MusicCO). Together the partners have engaged CultureCap Inc. and Nordicity Media Group to develop the strategy.

The Music Strategy will be a County wide, collaborative and comprehensive strategy intended to promote and support the local commercial music industry, live music performance, and to attract music tourism to the region.

Play a part in developing the strategy
Key stakeholders from the commercial music community in Simcoe County are invited to contribute to the strategy including musicians, songwriters, music promoters and booking agents, music venues and facilities, festivals and events, sound recording companies, music services companies, music retail and equipment rentals and manufacturers, fans and audiences.

An online survey has been created to gather data about the size and scope of the industry, and to answer questions such as what makes Simcoe County a great place for music, and how could it be made even better. This is an incredible opportunity to collect data and ideas from the entire music ecosystem in Simcoe County. All stakeholders are encouraged to complete the survey and share the survey link to help spread the word to the music community. The greater the participation, the better the results. The online survey can be found here.

Round table sessions will be held in Collingwood (November 7), Orillia (November 8) and Barrie (November 13). These sessions are by invitation only, if there are key stakeholders from your community that should be on these lists please email simcoemusic@culturecap.ca.
