Regional Tourism Organization 4 (Huron, Perth, Waterloo Region and Wellington) and Regional Tourism Organization 7 (BruceGreySimcoe) collaborated in this venture, which resulted in a strategy and labour market plan for the tourism industry within the respective contiguous, provincially established tourism regions. The initiative was jointly steered by the two RTOs and the following workforce planning boards: Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin (11) The Four County Labour Market Planning Board (18) Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board (19) The project was funded equally by RTO4 and RTO7; RTO7 also provided project management support. A comprehensive assessment of tourism workforce needs and resources was conducted within the respective and contiguous tourism regions, with development of a long-term strategy and industry-specific labour market plan. Zizys Consulting conducted the study, which commenced in June 2012 and involved extensive industry and stakeholder consultation, including validation of findings and recommendations. At a December 12th, 2012 session in Collingwood the project consultant presented preliminary findings and observations. Early in 2013, stakeholders were given the opportunity for input and discussion of these findings.
