In RTO7’s Week in Review for September 25, 2015, we shared information on the province seeking input for the development of their first Culture Strategy.  A Town Hall meeting is being held in Owen Sound on Tuesday, November 10 as part of the information gathering process.  Location is the Bayshore Community Centre, from 6 to 8 pm.  More will be posted when available.

Ontario Fruit Farmers can apply for financial support for cold weather mitigation equipment, with the province sharing up to 35 percent of the cost.  The funding is expected to help growers manage the risk of winter-damaged crops and reduced yields.  Eligible growers may receive up to a maximum of $31,500 per project.  Growers may apply for funding through the Ontario Crop and Soil Improvement Association, with the first intake from October 22 to November 5, 2015.

A Memorandum to Tourism Stakeholders was released on October 15, 2015 from Assistant Deputy Minister Richard Mckinnell, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport on the subject of Strategic Framework for Tourism in Ontario.  In the opening paragraph, he states “In May 2015, Minister Coteau sent a letter to the tourism industry outlining the ministry’s role in leading the development of a Strategic Framework for Tourism in Ontario.  This framework will build on the key themes identified in the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO)’s report, Mapping Ontario’s Tourism Future, and the 2009 Discovering Ontario report.”   For the complete document, click here.
