TIAO Offers Accessibility Standard Info for Tourism & Hospitality Businesses

TIAO is pleased to offer the Accessibility Standard for Customer Service, and accompanying webinars (in English and French).

The initiative was created to help Ontario reach its goal of becoming a more inclusive, accommodating environment for people with disabilities. Making our tourism businesses and organizations more accessible to those with disabilities creates a positive environment, and also makes good business sense. TIAO's simple, easy-to-use webinars will inform you and your staff of proper customer service protocol when encountering people with disabilities.

Meeting the following customer service requirements is obligatory:
1) Enforcing procedures and policies regarding service to those with disabilities.
2) Ensure staff and company representatives are sufficiently trained and well-versed in customer service standards.
3) Make your policies known to your customers.
4) Submit your report to the government to prove that you are in compliance with the customer service standard.

In addition this fall, TIAO will be offering two more webinars! Organizations will be able to participate in online tutorials concerning the Accessibility Standard for Information and Communications and one on the Accessibility Standard for Employment.

These webinars will assist your business in complying with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the standards. For more information on accessible tourism, please see TIAO's website: www.accessibletourismwebsite.com
