Tell Us About Your Tourism Technology Challenges, Successes and Experience
Background – Why A Survey?
Over the course of delivering the T3 Accelerator program throughout Bruce, Grey and Simcoe Counties, it has been identified that there is an increasing need for IT knowledge and support as more and more tourism businesses have switched to online platforms to remain competitive.
However, tourism business owners and operators often find it difficult to navigating the immense selection of available online tools and programs and struggle with finding the right information to make the decision that best meets the needs of their business. In addition, the ability to integrate with existing systems and the costs are not fully communicated. This challenging landscape negatively impacts the businesses causing lost time and revenue, business owner fatigue, slower business growth, and in some cases, poor customer reviews and feedback.
The T3 Accelerator Program is working with Lakehead University to conduct research on the IT tools being used by small business tourism operators in Region 7 in order to identify needs and gaps, evaluate the broad range of IT systems and services available to tourism operators, and research integration challenges and opportunities. This research study has been reviewed and approved by the Lakehead University Research Ethics Board, file no. 1469349.
