Different Perspectives. One Regional Conversation.

Applications are now open for RTO7’s Marketing Advisory Committee.

BruceGreySimcoe is a remarkable four-season destination, defined by stunning natural landscapes, vibrant and diverse communities, and tourism experiences that give people countless reasons to visit throughout the year. From the businesses and organizations that welcome visitors to the communities and destinations that make this region distinct, there is no single BruceGreySimcoe perspective. That is one of our greatest strengths.

As RTO7 develops a new multi-year marketing strategy for the region, we want that breadth of experience, knowledge and perspective represented in the conversation.

RTO7 is inviting tourism professionals from across Bruce, Grey and Simcoe counties, including Barrie and Orillia, to apply to join the Marketing Advisory Committee.

Applications close September 11, 2026.

About the Marketing Advisory Committee

The Marketing Advisory Committee will bring practical industry experience, regional knowledge and market insight to the development of RTO7’s new marketing strategy.

Members will provide informed, region-wide advice as RTO7 defines the requirements for the marketing strategy and as the selected consultant researches, develops and refines the strategy.

The committee will help ensure the strategy reflects the realities of tourism across BruceGreySimcoe and is practical, measurable and relevant to destinations, tourism operators, independent businesses and the broader visitor economy.

The committee is advisory. Final decisions related to the marketing strategy, procurement, budgets and implementation remain with RTO7.

We’re Looking for Different Perspectives

RTO7 will appoint up to 10 external members. We are not looking for 10 people with the same background or experience.
We want the committee, as a whole, to reflect the breadth of tourism across the region, including:
  • Destination and municipal tourism
  • Major resorts and destination accommodations
  • Hotels, meetings and conferences
  • Independent accommodations
  • Outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism
  • Attractions, arts, culture and heritage
  • Culinary tourism, agritourism, festivals and events
  • Small and emerging tourism experiences
  • Destination branding, digital strategy, consumer research, audience insights, media and performance measurement
We will also consider geographic representation; urban, rural, resort, waterfront and nature-based perspectives; different sizes and types of tourism organizations; year-round and shoulder-season experience; and a diversity of professional, community and lived perspectives.

You do not need to fit neatly into one category. Many tourism professionals bring experience that crosses sectors, communities and areas of expertise.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants should have current or recent experience developing, delivering, managing or evaluating marketing strategies or campaigns for a tourism business, destination or relevant organization.

We are looking for people who understand tourism markets and visitor behaviour, can contribute strategically while keeping practical realities in mind, and are prepared to consider what will benefit the region as a whole.

Committee members will be expected to participate constructively, review materials in advance and respect confidentiality and procurement requirements.

Selection will consider both individual experience and the overall mix of the committee. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee appointment.

What Will Committee Members Do?

Committee members will contribute their knowledge and experience throughout the strategy-development process. This may include providing input into the scope and objectives of the strategy, identifying opportunities and barriers, sharing sector and destination perspectives, participating in consultant-led discussions and reviewing emerging findings and strategic directions.

Members will also help test whether recommendations are realistic and relevant to tourism organizations of different sizes and types across the region.

Time Commitment

Appointments are anticipated to last approximately one year, through the development of the RFP and completion of the consultant’s marketing strategy assignment.

The committee is expected to meet approximately six times, with additional workshops or consultations scheduled if required. Meetings may be virtual, in person or hybrid.

Participation is voluntary and committee members will not receive remuneration. Pre-approved travel or other expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with RTO7 policy.

Conflict of Interest

Maintaining the integrity of the marketing strategy procurement process is important.

Applicants must disclose any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest. Employees, owners or representatives of organizations that may bid on the marketing strategy RFP may not be eligible to participate where their involvement would create a conflict of interest.

Full requirements are outlined in the Terms of Reference.
